Creating a Smarter Showroom: How to Sell Your Styles, Part 1

10 Tips for Making Your Showroom a Selling Machine

The success of a showroom design can be measured by how well it sells product. That’s why Barbour Spangle Design always strives for more than aesthetically pleasing spaces for our showroom clients. We design showrooms that capture attention and help you close sales.

That means refreshing your display every market, without exception. Buyers have limited time to shop, and their eye is trained to spot what’s new. If there has been little or no change, you risk losing their attention and more importantly, an opportunity to engage.  The following tips are to help ensure you catch their eye, each and every market!

1. Shuffle your product every market. Remember, everything looks new when arranged differently.
2. Angle furniture toward the path of the customer. This helps customers see what’s important first and keeps them engaged.
3. Lines are meant to be broken. Organic movement adds interest and softens linear products.

4. Have a dead space? Cozy it up with a coffee bar.
5. Add an architectural element as a shout-out to a new vignette you want buyers to notice. Architectural elements make a showroom space look more residential and this helps buyers visually connect with the product.

 6. If your showroom layout has a long sight line, visually break up the flow with rugs and furniture vignettes to keep the view up-close and intimate.  You want your buyer to focus what’s right in front of them—not what’s at the other end of the showroom.

 7. Think Unique! Use 3D elements to add dimension and texture to walls.

8. Be adventurous with the scale of your accessories and art. Play with groupings of several small sizes. Intersperse a larger scale. The more diversity, the more interest.
9. Add memorable accessories with character and a touch of humor.
10. Every room should have one vintage item. It adds depth and reality to a space.
